Underscoring its focus on making banking more rewarding, Sohar International, together with its Islamic banking window, Sohar Islamic, celebrated a total of 30 winners of its ‘Bold Steps, Golden Rewards’ programme at a special event held at Intercity Hotel, Muscat. Each winner was presented with a gold bar, bringing the initiative to a memorable conclusion and giving tangible form to a campaign built around rewarding meaningful financial choices. Eng. Aisha Al Saifi, Chief Transformation Officer, and Fahad Al Zadjali, Head of Islamic Banking, attended the event, welcoming and congratulating the winners, reflecting the institution’s active role in the campaign and the importance its leadership placed on the occasion.
Commenting on the campaign, Abdul Qadir Al Sumali, Chief Retail & Premier Banking Officer at Sohar International, said, "Customers have a genuine choice in where and how they bank, and we do not take that choice for granted. ‘Bold Steps, Golden Rewards’ was intended to encourage more customers to begin a relationship with Sohar International and give existing customers further reasons to engage with us. Behind each of those decisions is a measure of confidence and ambition. By linking them to the chance to win gold, we wanted the campaign to reflect the progress that comes with making a positive change."
Fahad Al Zadjali, Head of Islamic Banking, added, "Our focus now is to build on the relationships the campaign helped create and strengthen. Sustaining them requires consistency and the same care at every stage. Throughout the initiative, we had several opportunities to interact with customers, while the winners’ event added a personal dimension to the overall experience. This is how individual moments develop into relationships that continue well beyond a campaign."
Customers earned entries through a range of qualifying banking actions, including opening a new account and transferring their salary, applying for and activating a credit card, and using the card during the campaign. Each completed step increased their chances of winning, while every eligible retail card transaction of OMR 50 or more counted as one entry.
This multi-action format gave customers more than one route to qualify and allowed them to increase their chances throughout the campaign. Draws were held at weekly intervals, creating recurring opportunities to win before the grand draw. The value of the offer therefore extended beyond a single banking action or one moment of participation.
The campaign reflects Sohar International’s customer-focused approach to developing relevant, accessible products and initiatives that deliver clear benefits. This approach will continue to guide the bank as it advances its retail proposition in response to evolving customer needs.
