talabat, the region’s leading everyday application, hosted Safety Week for 200 riders in Oman, reinforcing its commitment to rider and public safety. Held under the theme “Ride Safe. Deliver Better.”, the event gave riders the knowledge, skills, and care to get home safe after every shift.
The programme started with the Royal Oman Police (ROP) address on traffic law and road safety. Riders were reminded that wearing a helmet, respecting speed limits, keeping to their lane, using indicators and never using a phone while riding are requirements, not choices.
“Motorcycle”, a motorcycle driving school, led a session on defensive driving and accident prevention. The session educated riders on safe driving practices such as keeping a safe distance from other vehicles as well as speed management, positioning, and a reminder on the traffic regulations.
Medical partner Burjeel Hospital health check-ups covering blood pressure, vision, BMI, blood sugar and heart rate, with referrals for any concerns. Riders also took part in hands-on First Aid and CPR training, and what to do if a situation occurred.
Commenting on the Safety Week, Stéphane Berton, Managing Director, said: “Rider safety and well-being are our top priorities, and Safety Week is a reflection of that. Our riders keep Oman moving every day, and it is our duty to make sure they, and everyone they share the road with, get home safe. By bringing expert training and healthcare together under one roof, we are giving riders the knowledge, confidence and care they deserve. We are grateful to the Royal Oman Police, Motorcycle Driving School and our Burjeel Hospital for their time, expertise and support.”
Furthermore, to enhance rider and public safety, riders were introduced to the Rider Safety Score in the talabat Rider App, which tracks speed, phone use and harsh braking. Riders signed a “Safety Pledge” that ensures the riders are adhering to safety standards and traffic regulations, ensuring public safety.
